Where needed most
Operation Life is dedicated to feeding the hungry in prisons, hospitals, and the community as well as funding the vulnerable and rescued children in its “ Child Rescue Sanctuary home.” The organization also has constructed schools for vulnerable children. Currently, all projects are in Papua New Guinea. Thousands are given support.
The ‘Where Needed Most’ unrestricted fund is critical to Operation Life’s full focus on ensuring that day-to-day operations and growth strategy are met.
The fund is also used as required to meet emergency needs or contribute to project funds. It is the key fund for the operations and needs of the organisation.
From Orphan to Midwife
Helen’s early life was marked by tragedy in a crime-ridden settlement plagued by drugs, violence, and prostitution. At just five years old, she witnessed her father’s murder by her uncle, a known criminal. Her life took another difficult turn when her mother remarried and abandoned Helen and her younger siblings. Under her grandmother’s care, Helen managed to complete Grade 4 before financial constraints forced her to leave school. Her grandmother consistently prayed for Helen’s adoption by a caring family. However, after her grandmother’s death, Helen found herself homeless, struggling to survive on the streets. A turning point came when Operation Life discovered her during a homeless feeding program in her settlement. They invited her to join the Sanctuary, finally answering her grandmother’s long-standing prayers. This intervention has dramatically changed Helen’s trajectory. She has since completed Grade 12 and aspires to become a midwife. Her goal is to return to her former community, the notorious settlement she grew up in, to make a difference. She plans to advocate for the Adventist Health message, aiming to improve the lifestyle of those still living in challenging circumstances. Her journey exemplifies how support and education can transform a life from one of hardship to one of purpose and service.
